Three tips to jump start your self-care routine in 2019

Self Care simply put is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve ones own health.  WE know this can sometimes seem difficult. Tricia Greenaway has shared with us three quick practices to aid in your self care journey.

Though self care was and still is a buzz word that is likely to continue to trend, some may overthink how to care for themselves. 

Here are three simple ways to care for your mind, body and soul.

  • Mindful meditation. Getting your mind right is easier said than done but an easy way to start is to practice mindful meditation. 10 minutes a day after waking and before going to bed is enough to provide clarity of thought and mind. Though a practice from ancient times it remains necessary in today’s fast paced world. Simply sit at the front of any chair with feet firmly grounded on the floor and hands gently resting on knees. Inhale filling your lungs with air and exhale slowly. Do so while counting to ten and repeat for as many iterations for ten minutes.


  • Take an internal bath. Our body thrives on water. It is the life source that sustains and maintains life on the planet. The function water plays in maintaining the functions of our internal organs is paramount to our survival. It may seem a chore but drinking one glass of water every hour while at work will keep you hydrated for the duration of the day. Besides flushing your kidneys of impurities and literally cooling your brain, water provides lots more functions. Give your organs the bathe they deserve today.


  • Bathe your soul. Not literally but figuratively. Sea baths have been used to cure many a ailments over time. Taking a bathe in the ocean helps us to absorb minerals in the sea. Immersing yourself in the vastness of the ocean is as therapeutic as it is refreshing and relaxing. Add in a few laps of swimming and you’ve effectively created an exercise-routine. A quick swim once or twice a week is sure to help loosen up your muscles and give you a good nights rest.
